Add an easier way to have a student's weekly session be evenly split into multiple weekly sessions

Kether 8 years ago updated by Jonathan (Founder) 4 years ago 6

Some school districts require students to be seen multiple times each week. It would be nice if there were a way for a student Session (as entered in the caseload editor) to be automatically split into multiple sessions per week. Each of these sessions would have identical IEP goals, and the time would be split evenly.

This feature has been completed, and is now live on slpscheduler.com. The new version of the Caseload Editor now contains the ability to copy all kinds of items in lists, including one of a student's listed sessions.

Please let us know what you think!

Organize students by grade level in caseload editor

Ryan 8 years ago updated by Jonathan (Founder) 7 years ago 7

Have the students organized by grade level. If I want to edit a specific student I must scroll through all the students. I want to choose a grade level to add/edit a student.

Make restrictions per grade level then individual restrictions.  (this has already been implemented)

Answer

This feature has been implemented, and will be pushed to the servers tonight.

There is now a "sort" caseload transformation that sorts all students in your caseload according to grade level, primary classroom teacher, and student name.

Simplify caseload entry when multiple students have same class periods

Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago updated 7 years ago 3

Right now, each student must have a complete list of their applicable Exact Spans. This is very repetitive when multiple students share the same exact class period schedule.

Consider:

  • Allowing Exact Spans to be added per student rotation
  • Allowing Exact Spans to be added per building
  • Allowing Exact Spans to be added per grade

I'm pleased to report that this has been implemented. You can now apply class periods across an entire building or grade. Please email us at help@slpscheduler.com if you have any problems or questions. Thanks for your patience!

Improve support for inclusion-based group therapy

Jonathan (Founder) 7 years ago updated 4 years ago 2

If pushing into a classroom to see a single student, you can simply select the "Individual" delivery model, and the engine will do the rest.  No problem.

If you wish to push in to see multiple students in the same classroom, there's no clean way to do this:

  • If you specify the "Individual" delivery model, then the scheduler won't account for the fact that you'll be servicing multiple students at the same time.
  • If you specify the "Group" or "Unspecified" delivery models, then it's possible that the scheduler will group students together who are from different primary classrooms.

This could be implemented as a single checkbox for inclusion.  When the box is checked and the "Individual" delivery model is not selected, the engine should ensure that all students in the session are in the same primary classroom.

With the confluence of several new features over the past couple of years, we now have a recommended path for inclusion-based (push-in) therapy.

See the knowledgebase article:

Add ability to revert caseload to previous version

Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago updated 4 years ago 2

It would be nice to be able to go back to previous versions of the caseload.

Add collapse/expand button on caseload editor

Jill 8 years ago updated by Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago 3

Can there be a collapse/expand button on SLP information.... you have to scroll through all of that each time, too. Would be nice that once that is entered it could be collapsed.

Answer
Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago

FYI, each therapist and student in the caseload editor is now collapsable.

Add a box to check if all start and end times are the same (Schedule & Student Rotations)

April 8 years ago updated by Jonathan (Founder) 7 years ago 4

When listing start and end times for therapist's schedule as well as the students' schedules, it would be easier to have a box to check if all days (start & end times) are the same.

Answer
Jonathan (Founder) 7 years ago

FYI, you can now simply use an asterisk (*) in place of the day name in cases where a time value applies to every school day in the week:

  • Class Periods
  • Building/Grade schedules
  • Classroom schedules
  • Therapist availability entries
  • Student exact time spans
  • Student availability entries

This means that, for each of the above-listed items, you only need to enter a single start and end time (not one for every day of the week).

This addresses the concern for most users, as well as the majority of what April asked for.  The other piece of what April asked for (the same thing for Student Rotations) cannot easily be done, as that list is specifically used to define what day names are considered part of the original week.

We will revisit this issue again if there is great demand for optimizing input for the Student Rotation days and times.

Thanks for the suggestion, and hopefully everyone enjoys the new optimizations!

Validation errors in caseload editor should be easier to understand

Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago updated 7 years ago 2

Right now, when typing in an invalid value into the caseload editor, a red error message appears, but it's not easily understandable by humans. Would be nice if the error messages were more intuitive.

Answer
Jonathan (Founder) 7 years ago

I'm pleased to announce that this feature has been completed.  Easily readable explanations have been added to the caseload editor that explain (in plain terms) the valid character sets for each field.

The red text will remain, as it is helpful for validation in other contexts.  However, it is no longer required to stare at gibberish and somehow decipher what it means.  :)

This change will roll out to the servers overnight.

Allow more than 3 buildings

Jonathan (Founder) 8 years ago updated 7 years ago 6

The caseload configuration currently enforces a maximum of 3 buildings. It would be nice if an arbitrary number of buildings could be added.

I'm pleased to report that this has been implemented. You can now include an arbitrary number of buildings to your caseload. Please email us at help@slpscheduler.com if you have any problems or questions. Thanks for your patience!

Add "next" button to cycle sequentially through students

tcolbert 7 years ago updated by Jonathan (Founder) 4 years ago 1

Right now, visiting each student sequentially requires manually selecting them, one at a time, from the list of students.

Would be nice if there were a "next" button of sorts.
