Scheduling a Workload in a 3:1 Model

SLP Scheduler is able to accommodate scheduling workloads that follow a 3:1 model. A 3:1 model is a workload that rotates every 4 weeks:

• Weeks 1, 2, 3 - Direct student services
• Week 4 - Indirect student services

Week 5 starts over as if it were Week 1 all over again.

To use SLP Scheduler to schedule your workload like this, consider how you want to use your Week 4. Usually, Weeks 1-3 are spend conducting therapy. Therapists use their Week 4 differently:

• Some therapists want to use their Week for for non-therapy blocks.
• Others want to use Week 4 to see specific students in their caseload. Either way, we have you covered!

If you don't want to conduct therapy during Week 4, then all you need to do differently is to specify student session IEP minutes per Rotation (i.e. per week). You'll have to manually calculate how many weekly minutes each student will need in order to meet their IEP goals, taking into account that they'll only be seen during 75% of the available weeks.

If you do want to conduct therapy during Week 4, then it's slightly more complicated. First, you'll need to manually separate your students into two caseloads: one caseload for Weeks 1-3 and another caseload for Week 4. Then follow the above steps for each caseload: Specify student session IEP minutes per Rotation (i.e. per week). You'll have to manually calculate how many weekly minutes each student will need in order to meet their IEP goals, taking into account that they'll only be seen during 75% or 25% of the available weeks.

• If you only purchased 1 caseload, you'll need to increase your caseload size to handle this. Since creating your schedules in this case will require (approximately) double the computation behind the scenes, the only way for us to recuperate our computational server farm costs is to ask you to purchase another caseload.

Pro-tip: There's nothing special about the specific ratio. If you're interested in a 2:1 or 5:1 model, the same steps above still apply.
